It produced smart, Wi-Fi-enabled programmable thermostats and smoke detectors. It was co-founded in 2010 by two former Apple employees: Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers. When Google acquired it in 2014 for $3.2 billion, it employed 130 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nest Labs \u2013 China Sourcing success story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Nest Labs was a company that is a good example of China Sourcing. They made it possible to control one&#8217;s home\u2019s heating from a phone app. It is another fine example of a high-quality device manufactured in China. Nest Labs also released Nest Protect, a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, to the market. It was a huge milestone for the smart home devices market. It is no surprise that Google saw its potential and acquired the company. Google bought Nest Labs, and the same year, <a href=\"https:\/\/examinechina.com\/blog\/lenovo-buys-motorola\/\">sold Motorola to Lenovo<\/a> for $2.9 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, it was renamed Google Nest.
