Is there visa-free travel to China from Europe?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visa-free travel to China from Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update November 2025: check the rules for the newest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.examinechina.com\/china-visa-free-policy-2026\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.examinechina.com\/china-visa-free-policy-2026\/\">China visa-free policy here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For people of certain nationalities, it is possible to travel to China without a visa. Most Europeans did not have this privilege, but this is changing. From December 2023, people from five additional European countries can travel to China without a visa. As of March 14, 2024, China expanded its unilateral visa-free travel policy to six more European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From November 30, 2024, to December 31, 2025, ordinary passport holders from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, and Latvia can also enjoy a 30-day visa-free stay in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What European nationalities can travel to China from Europe visa-free? 30-day visa exemption<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From November 30,&nbsp;you can travel to China without a visa if you come from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Andorra<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Austria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Belgium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bulgaria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Croatia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cyprus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Denmark<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Estonia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>France<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Germany<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greece<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hungary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Iceland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ireland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Italy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Latvia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liechtenstein<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Luxembourg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Malta<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monaco<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Montenegro<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Netherlands<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>North Macedonia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Norway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portugal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Romania<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slovakia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slovenia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switzerland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For how long can I be in China without a visa?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are from the abovementioned countries, you can travel to China for up to <strong>30 days<\/strong>. The purpose of the visit can be business, family, friends gathering, transit, or tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The caveat is that the 30-day travel visa waiver only applies from November 30, 2025. Citizens of the countries listed above must apply for a visa in advance if they expect to stay in China for more than 30 days or if they intend to study, work, settle down, or attend an interview there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traveling from Southern Europe to China visa-free<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Holders of ordinary passports issued in Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as San Marino, can travel in China for up to <strong>90 days<\/strong> visa-free (within any 180 days with the exception of San Marino nationals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traveling from Eastern Europe to China with no visa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you hold a normal Belarusian passport, you are allowed to spend at most <strong>30 days<\/strong> during one trip to China visa-free, but no more than 90 days within any one calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traveling from Central Europe to China without a visa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Passports issued to nationals of Serbia enable them to travel to China visa-free for <strong>30 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much is a visa to China?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have to get a Chinese visa, the good news is that no matter where you come from, from December 11, 2023, to December 31, 2024, you can enjoy a cheaper visa to China since the country cut visa fees by <strong>25% <\/strong>across the board for foreign travelers.
